Meet Dr. Michelle Tovar, an accomplished educator with a decade of experience in both public schools and museums. She specializes in developing and evaluating educational programs and promoting inclusivity in learning environments.
At the museum, she has spearheaded efforts to foster a welcoming space for all communities, rebuild connections with local Indigenous groups, and bring to light the often-overlooked stories of BIPOC narratives in history.
Tovar holds a Master’s in History and a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction in K-12 Social Education, with a focus on Social Justice Education. Dr. Tovar is a distinguished alumnus of the Smithsonian Latino Museum Studies program, a Fulbright Hays scholar, and a Houston Coalition Against Hate board member.
