The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is proud to introduce new and reintroduce familiar faces.
Introducing our newest staff member:

Sloane Teagle, MFA | Living History Manager
Sloane Teagle (she/her) is a Houston-based theatre artist, educator, and creative leader whose work centers on the transformative power of storytelling. With a background spanning performance, directing, arts administration, and education, she brings an interdisciplinary approach to making history accessible, engaging, and deeply human.
Sloane holds a BFA in Theatre from Texas State University and an MFA in Physical Theatre from Mississippi University for Women, with additional international training in Italy, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Having held artistic leadership positions throughout Houston’s theatre community, she also serves as an adjunct theatre professor at Texas Southern University.
As Living History Manager, Sloane brings her passion for storytelling, education, and community engagement to the museum’s mission of preserving and sharing Black military history.
MY HOPES FOR LIVING HISTORY
“My hope for Living History at the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum is to create experiences that challenge what we think we know while connecting us emotionally to the people behind the history.
Through immersive storytelling and historically responsible interpretation, I want audiences to encounter these individuals not simply as names, dates, or historical figures, but as people whose lives, choices, and legacies continue to shape our world.
My goal is to build a program that is artistically engaging, historically responsible, and genuinely meaningful to the communities we serve. Because ultimately, we’re not just bringing history to life.
We’re making sure the lives behind that history are never reduced to a footnote.
History doesn’t belong only behind glass. It belongs in conversation, in community, and in the stories we choose to tell.”
