Group Tours
Please Note: Due to capacity constraints and a shortage of docents, the museum has made the decision to change all docent-guided tours to self-guided tours.
The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday. Please refer to our Plan Your Visit page for information on free times.
Requests received with less than three (3) weeks of notice cannot be guaranteed.
- February, May, and June school tours must be booked one month in advance.
- No group tours on military holidays: Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Veterans Day, and Buffalo Soldiers Day (July 28)

STUDENT/YOUTH GROUP TOURS
School Group Tours will ONLY be scheduled on the following dates and times:
- Tuesdays – 10 a.m.
- Wednesday through Friday – 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
- Saturdays – 10 a.m.
All group tours require a minimum of 10 participants. Self-guided tours can be booked at any time or day of the week with a maximum of 50 visitors.
Registration is required for self-guided tours.
Groups must arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled tour.

BSNM FIELD TRIP EXPERIENCE FOR TITLE I SCHOOLS
Beginning January 2025 – May 2025
The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum and The Summerlee Foundation proudly support our community. We are committed to offering quality educational programs to local schools and will cover transportation costs for those in Harris County.
Specialized tours include:
- School Bus Reimbursement
- Docent-led tours and enrichment activities (Maximum of 40 students per field trip)
- Lunch/Snack
- Museum Souvenir
This opportunity operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Field trips occur from Tuesday to Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

TOUR CONFIRMATION
The Group Tours Coordinator will contact you within seven (7) business days after receiving your submission with additional information to discuss your request. Tours are considered booked only after you have received a written confirmation from the Museum.
